This California sign colorization in is used for exempt crossings that were created prior to January 1, 1978.
Prepare for a bumpy ride if you see this.

Whistle posts. Union Pacific uses the "X" signs for upcoming crossings, and "W" signs for upcoming bridges.

With the addition of quiet zones, there are now signs that tell engineers not to sound their horns, in both the "X" and "W" varieties.

A few older signs I found. This was likely back during the days of manual gates. The "STOP ON RED SIGNAL" sign doesn't have a link because there's no picture bigger than 95x83 pixels.
Stop posts used on some older crossings and/or spur crossings.
