Photos #1-3 are facing east, and photo #4 is facing west. These signals are Safetran cantilevers with 12"x24" lights. The eastbound signal looks rather strrange. The side lights are weird enough, but the front pair of lights on the mast are scrunched up right below the crossbuck. Photo #1 was taken back in November 2000 by Chad Huth, while photos #2-4 were taken in August 2003 by Josh Baumann. |

A look at the crossing facing east on December 24, 2008 by Brian556. The signals have not changed. The DGNO tracks and signals still in place. DART construction is overhead. |

The eastbound direction now has a new, gated cantilever signal. There are still some strange sidelights (notice the pair of lights sticking out from behind the crossbuck), but at least now the forward-facing lights are at the normal height. |
The westbound direction has a gated mast signal under the DART overpass, and check this out... a large older-style Safetran walk-out cantilever signal has been installed before the overpass! The crossbuck installed above the center pair of lights is a nice touch, but there are no lights on the upright pole. |
I'm guessing that the old (but new-to-this-location) Safetran cantilever in photo #7 was recycled from the Webb Chapel Extension crossing, or one of several other crossings along this line that used to have this type of cantilever. It would be nice if railroads would re-use equipment like this more often, it is still a good signal and is a lot more cost-effective than buying a brand new one.
Photos #6 and 7 were taken by Josh Baumann on December 23, 2010.
