This is the beginning of the new installation. You can see part of the new track laid down already.

Taken December 2, 2000.

Here's the new look taken July 2003. There's new L.E.D 12"x24" lights on the gates as well as electronic bells. Note the unusual placing of the "DO NOT STOP ON TRACKS" sign between the lights and the crossbuck on the signal to the right.

This crossing resulted as a closure of the main line which crossed at Kirby St. #2. The line was moved westward a bit, and has now merged with a UP line that KCS has trackage rights to. This crossing is in between where the old line was severed, and where it now joins with the existing UP rail line.

Also, it's unknown what the DOT number of this new crossing is. The FRA has a very bad habit of not posting new crossings on their website. This is one of them. I really doubt that the older Kirby St. #2 DOT number was reused. If anyone knows the DOT number of this crossing, let me know.

This crossing is about 150 to 200 feet west of the old Kirby St. #2 crossing.
