Facing north. |
Side view of the NB signal with the Safetran mechanical bell. |
Facing south. |
Gated signals with 12" x 24" Safetran incandescent lights. The crossing is located at the western end of the ex-Chicago & Northwestern Green Bay yard, now CN's main yard in the city. Broadway St. #5 is located at the eastern end. Interestingly, much like Broadway #5 is the only crossing left on the main line in Green Bay with any 8" lights, this crossing is the only one left with a mechanical bell!
The southbound signal has an L&W base, the only non-Safetran part of either of these signals. |
Track views. Picture 5 faces east toward the yard, and picture 6 faces west. The second track is a spur to an industry. |

There used to be another crossing south of here, and north of the existing Military Ave. #2.
Pictures 1-7 were taken on October 9, 2007.
Some active shots facing North taken on April 6, 2008. |

On April 6 and 13, the right rear light of the southbound signal was burnt out (see Picture 12). In addition, on April 13 the Safetran mechanical bell which worked on April 6 failed to sound at all! CN was called and reported the problems, and when a train went through the crossing on April 20 both were fixed.

The FRA says that this crossing is in a quiet zone, but I've been told it isn't.
