A Safetran hybrid bell on the Westbound shoulder cantilever.

 

It is hard to see, but this crossing, is on a freeway! All the lights here are 12" x 24" Safetran lights.

The mast signal on the right of picture 1 is for an off-ramp.

The eastbound on-ramp signal, which is very rusty with a bent background on a down-turned light.

 

You can see a cone where a 4th cantilever used to exist. It's unknown if something hit it, or if it was dismantled or stolen.

 

UP and WSOR stopped maintenance on this line several years before it was technically abandoned and ripped up.

This was originally the Chicago & Northwestern's mainline to Lancaster in western Wisconsin. During the early 1980s, all was abandoned except for a 5-mile stub to serve a few industries, and the line was renamed the Central Soya Spur, after the principal industry at the end of the line. By the early 2000s, all those industries had either closed or moved, and the track sat dormant and weed-covered before UP and WSOR joinly filed for (and were granted) abandonment on June 1, 2005. Now only about 1 1/2 miles of the line north of here still operate as an industrial spur. The FRA didn't mark the crossing closed until April 2006.

A small update here. These two pictures face East. Out of the 6 signals that existed here, it's now down to just the 2 median signals. All other signals have been torn up and have been moved to other non-signaled crossings.

 

The tracks and grades have been removed and repaved. The 2 signals are the only remnants to the old lines existance.
