More than a decade of neglect has taken its toll on these 8" Safetran signals. Both signals are missing the front left lighthead, and the westbound signal has a rear light turned upward. The eastbound signal also has a bent rear background and some cosmetic damage to the crossbuck. That signal has a Safetran mechanical bell on it.
Despite the weed-choked and obviously unused track, this crossing has no signage anywhere to exempt required vehicles from stopping.

In picture 13, a switch stand is visible that wasn't in picture 7 due to the dense leaves. The track going straight was the Chicago and Northwestern's passenger main to its depot downtown. It now ends a short distance further south and becomes a bike path. The track that bends off to the right (toward the Estabrook Pkwy. crossing) was an industrial spur that was the reason this part of the line was kept in after passenger service ended. However, that freight service did not continue very long, and the line has been dormant for almost 15 years.
Pictures 9-14 were taken by WEHRAR17 on February 28, 2009. UP had filed with the FRA to formally abandon the line about a month earlier.
