This crossing is just across the Milwaukee River from Erie Street. This was the former Chicago and Northwestern passenger line through Milwaukee. What remains of the line is now only used for local freight service, including the spurs that cross in the background of pictures 1 and 14. The local train would go across Greenfield Avenue to access these spurs and a few others.

Pictures 1-13 were taken August 25, 2010. Pictures 14-20 were taken July 12, 2012. Nothing much changed by then except that one of the visors fell off the rear of the westbound signal.

Google Street View shows that as of November, 2016, the orphaned signals were still standing there, with all traces of the rails and grade removed from the pavement!
