This is one of several crossings along this "mothballed" line that is missing a signal. The west side has a cantilever with 12" x 24" Safetran incandescent lights and a Safetran mechanical bell. The east side used to have the same type of cantilever until 2005 or 2006, when it was either knocked down by a vehicle or removed so its parts could be used at an active crossing. A crossbuck and EXEMPT sign on a metal pole were installed in its place.

The line was purchased from the Union Pacific, which had filed to abandon it, by the cities of Fitchburg and Oregon in 1997. Wisconsin and Southern is technically the operator, although they have never run a train over the line.
