This crossing is located on the New England Southern Railroad's
mainline.

These signals were installed in approximatley 2006. Back in the Boston
& Maine era, a Brach Automatic Flagman protected this crossing.
Later, around 1979, Goodwin Railroad (successor to B&M and
predecesor to NEGS) kitbashed the crossing with used 8" lights
and a mast to become a standard gateless crossing, with the Brach pole
being reused. Over 25 years later, the signals were upgraded again to
the current setup, as NEGS has slowly replaced all former B&M
crossing equipment along the line. Note the white strobe light atop the
southern signal in picture 17, which flashes when the signals are
active, the manual activation box in pictures 3 and 12, and the remains
of the Brach pole in picture 13.
This section of the former Boston & Maine white mountain branch
still has a pulse of revenue freight, as NEGS operates
sporadic small freights (1-2 cars) through here to the 3M paper plant
in Tilton, as well as occasional freight for transload at their
facility located immediately north of this crossing, visible in several
of the photos.
