On a return trip on 12-31-13, it was discovered that all of the lights had been upgraded to WCH 2nd Generation LEDs. |
A return trip on 10-18-16 shows that the bell-less signal was knocked down and replaced with a slightly older one. |
The lights are now slightly older Safetran 12x24s from the 1990s with WCH 2nd Generation LEDs. |
Action shots. |
The LEDs were caught mid-flash here. |
CSX R518 heads north through the crossing. |
Another return trip to the crossing on 11-2-23 finds another upgrade to this crossing. |
No changes to the first signal, thankfully. |
The second signal was replaced entirely once again! |
The remains of the previous signal still laid near the crossing, it looks likea vehicle hit it once again. Most of it was pretty well destroyed, though the light in Picture 64 was remarkably intact.
The date listed on the inside of the (remains of the) lights give 1997 as the year, so I'm guessing CSX had originally installed this signal somewhere else (maybe Hickory Street in Hartselle?) back in the late-90s. |
CSX L692 approaches the crossing on the southern end of the N&D Branch with a lone GP40-2 for power, with the crossing activating just a few seconds before the train reached it! |
The train quickly passes. |
