Partially Closed Intersection Crossing

Post by Brian556 »

Opelika, AL
The problem I see here is that someone, especially at night, could accidentally turn in there and not see the red diamond markers until after they've turned. then they would have to stop on the tracks and wait for traffic to clear to back out. A guardrail at the end of that street would been a good idea to prevent vehicles from going aroud the red diamond markers. I could also see posting NO LEFT/RIGHT TURN signs on the thououghfare.

That would be a surprise.

From the looks they did try to put up adequate warning, but it just didn't work out Closing it was safer.

How the heck do you pronounce that towns name??

I speak my mind, if you don't like that oh well. I'll have you fill out a hurt feelings report and submit that to my office.

I'm not so sure about the adequate warning; that intersection might have needed a traffic signal to be tied into the crossing signals - though being a residential street, the volumes probably didn't justify any further modifications.

As a green person, I hate to see them close that street and make everyone drive blocks around rather than justurn right or turn left and park.
Wastes fuel and makes pollution.

BLAH :LOL3: GREEN MY ASS
take your hybrid car which is worse for the environment just to build, than building and running a hummer for 300,000 miles and drive off a cliff :LOL3:

Yes. I drive our HUGE Ford Expedition SUV as gently and efficiently as possible.
Accelerate gently.
Keep tires fully inflated to make them harder so less rolling resistance.
Drive less than the speed limit (always in the right lane) to reduce wind resistance and save fuel.
Look ahead and COAST up to
red signals and stopped traffic - often not having to stop before signal turnsgreen.
Rather than drive around in parking lots looking for closer spaces, we park distant in open parking spaces and proceed forward into the space ahead so that I need not back out.
Removed as much weight as possible. Took out third rear seats. Removed trailer hitch.
Ride the bicycle to stores whenever possible.

Oh. Did not know the Camry Hybrid was causing pollution in production. Sorry.
