The Missing signals of Folsom, Ca

Post by bnsfc44 »

On the old forum, I had mentioned that I had found the signals from crossing that are out of service in Folsom, Ca. After finally finding where I put the pictures (all those flashdrives :Tongue3: ) I want to show you them here. The railroad is called the Placerville and Sacramento Valley Railroad and they are trying to restored the line. Could they reuse these signals?

Interesting I found no bells. I hope they are stored some where safe.

If you are using federal money to install a crossing, then you must go with 12"x20" or 12"x24".

They could put them up if they use their own money for relays and other stuff without any financial help from the FRA.

I am not sure what they are going to do. Many of the former signalized crossings still have the relay case next to it. Don't know if they are still connected to the tracks.

Here's one for example:

Is it possible to buy any of that from a railroad employee?

If you have say about $100,000 or so, probably, unless the railroad is very giving, which I'm assuming no railroad is.

Nope, not a chance, but if you talk to the signal maintainer he might tell you when
and where to get some out of a metals dumpster sometime. I used to collect the
nice looking short pieces of rail and give them away. It was SP "PR" whether they
liked it or not. ;)

"Back when" the bells would have went to the System Signal Shop in Sacramento
or to the local signal dept bone yard if it were somewhere besides near-by, like
Folsom CA is.

Check the 102 page in the Extras section.

12"x20" means that the red lights are 12" wide, and the black backgrounds are 20" wide.

12"x24" means that the red lights are 12" wide, and the black backgrounds are 24" wide.

8" red lights always have 20" black backgrounds FYI... and because of that, the phrase 8"x20" is not used, and is not allowed for those who make webpages.

Thank you.
Yes, now I remember they had 12-inch lamps in the former 8-1/4 inch backgrounds. I did not like the look.
