FEC begins doing E-Bells :(

Post by brickbuilder711 »

I've been a proponent of mechanical bells being the FEC staple. I know FEC609 on here for one would be upset should he see this. :Curse1: :Censored: :Scared:

NW 57 AV, MP 367.5 (367+2695'), Crossing DOT # 272744G got upgraded as part of some complicated project and the south side, formerly a Harmon 3-lane cantilever, got eliminated in favor of this. I don't know what they're doing that warrants a small cantilever but it cannot be a bridge because three-railed Metrorail is south of there and it's unsafe to cross a rr with a third-rail.

What is more devastating is the fact that Metrolink is starting to do the same thing.

Metrolink has been replacing m-bells for awhile now, they mostly use Safetran Type 3 (High Pitched) E-bells & Safetran Type 2 E-bells.
Down by San Clemente pier there is NO more M-bells.

Hillsboro Road, MP 326 + 5144' (326.9) 272512S is literally being upgraded. See this still.

The old crossing had 2 cantilevers with 4 legs on the right side. They had incandescent lights.

The red square shows the support. The OH is obviously now gone as the new Lincoln Industries bridge cantilevers took over.

the Lincoln Ind. cantilevers have WCH 12 x 24 LEDs with electronic bells. The ped gate to the left's light-heads are malfunctioning!

The reason I put it here in this thread --- the new signals have about four WCH e-bells. AFAIK they only ring ER I MEAN SOUND OFF on lowering gates.
