I know there are no gates at this crossing yet, but notice the guard around the cantilever lights. It will guide the gate around the cantilver and lights if the gate is blown that direction by the wind and keep it from getting hung up on the cantilever.
I have seen that happen before on a crossing here... the gate got stuck on the cantilever. The gate remained in that position and the lights flashed for 2 hours until the next train came through, then the gate went up as normal. It will also keep the visors on the rear lights from getting torn up by the gate. I have seen that happen before too.
