Nice old signal from the 60's

It has a "Cat Eye" crossbuck and stop on red sign. Interesting wiring job as well. And, it looks like it got clipped by a passing truck or something.

Of course they can't put the crossbuck on right...cabman701 wrote:http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=275560

Am I the only one who thinks the track gauge looks a bit wider than usual?
You think your car gets bad mileage? SP 4449 consumes 10 gallons of bunker oil and 100 gallons of water every mile.

it probably was wider for that kind of train car.

Rest In Peace Guilford SD26 615!

A cooked light like that one needs to be fixed right away, IMO.cabman701 wrote:http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=275560

That'd be a good thing to report, if you feel like calling it in.
No bell. :(

Maybe there was a bell on the unseen signal. There's a lot of crossings around here that don't have bells. A good majority of them are on former Milwaukee Road lines.AlvinAZ wrote:No bell. :(

You know, there's a lot of railroad xings out there that aren't maintained
by Signalmen they are maintained by (the industry's) electricians. You can
usually tell which if you look close. ;) ...like how long has that light been
crooked? (after looking at the marks or chipped paint)
All the SP's branch-line xings got tested every two weeks and the main-line
xings got tested once a week and report filed with the time and date and
the train number (if a train was used for the test). But you'd still have to
shunt the track and walk around and check to see all the light bulbs were
ok.

I looked at that photo again and noticed that stop in written on the light lens in small letters, did anybody else notice that?cabman701 wrote:http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=275560

I do now that you mentioned it, but didn't see it before. Interesting... we would have never been able to see that if that light hadn't been hit and turned toward the camera... almost like it was planned.illinoistrains wrote:I looked at that photo again and noticed that stop in written on the light lens in small letters, did anybody else notice that?

The narrowness of the car makes the gauge look wider.AndrewFields wrote:Am I the only one who thinks the track gauge looks a bit wider than usual?
