Now here's one for ya...
Check out this crossing design. Also note the gate with out lights AND the WRRS gate base with LED lights on the mast. Ignore the Serena part, this is in Dwight, IL.

I saw this before. Dwight certainly would be a neat place on the UP line to railfan if it wasn't so far South from me.
Cheers,

Love the old GRS/WRRS gates.

A gate is a red and white striped arm.
You are referring to the mechasnisms.
That gate with no lights on it is clearly in violation. Interesting setup to say the least.

Just the facts, ma'am.

Jeez... do we have to be so "railroadically" correct? Everyone gets the idea of what the other person is trying to say...

Yes sir, we do.
The fact is, a gate is not a motor, a gate is the red and white striped piece. A mechanism is the housing and all the contents that makes the gate rise and fall. Just like a flasher is a relay, and not a light. These descriptions are very important to railroaders, and serious potential railroaders, but I guess obnoxious foamers and the like couldn't care less about what goes on in the real world though, but I don't cater to those types, so I don't care what they think.
Clear things up a little for ya, taxi man?

Well, yes, but as you know, the "gate" is actually the "arm" itself.
I do say "Gate arm" though.
Just the facts, ma'am.

All I was asking is you cut people a little slack... but obviously that is not going to happen. Whatever.MD2020 wrote: Yes sir, we do.

And CAB is my initials. Has nothing to do with taxi driving.

A- I don't care.
B- I don't care.
If you, or anyone else, don't appreciate accuracy or wish to promote use of accurate terms, practices and standards, then you are not a likely potential candidate for working on the Railroad someday, and should be content with being an obnoxious foamer, and if you can't handle being corrected by people that know better when you are in error, then you have problems deeper than I am qualified to address.
That being said, you will not continue to talk to me like I'm some kid or dumb foamer. I am a qualified, experienced Railroad employee, graciously sharing my knowledge and educated opinions on here, with no compensation whatsoever. If it weren't for people like me in the business, you would really have no idea what was going on out here.
Govern yourself accordingly.
Just the facts, ma'am.
