My favourite train company...

Can't have signals without railroads, so talk about your favorite locomotives, railroads and any other (non signal) railroad related stuff.

My favourite train company...

Post by wigwags4ever »

...is London Underground! The London Underground used to be seperate companies for each line, the first of which, the Metropolitan Railway (nowadays Metropolitan Line) was the first underground railway in the world, opening in 1863 with steam power. In 1890, the City and South London Railway (nowadays part of the Northern Line) was opened, it was the first electric underground railway in the world. Anyhow, to the main point of this post - If people are interested, I found some great photosites complete with information on the London Underground trains:

http://www.piccadilly-line.org.uk/

And, about the ghost stations on the underground:

Enjoy!

P.S. If any of you guys visit London, be sure to check out the Underground, it's red-and-blue roundel is unmissable! Also, the Docklands Light Railway, which opened in 1987, is an automatic driverless metro system, which is mostly overground but really cool! You can sit at the front and get what would be a driver's view! :TUP1:
