Here's one on Waverly Rd. in Thibodaux, LA
This one has it's rail line removed, but the crossbucks are still standing

https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... -0.91&z=20 (it's hard to see this crossbuck due to the weeds dominating it)
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 96,,0,1.26

End of the line for the former Amador Central Railroad. This 2007 view shows weedy tracks east of the CA. Highway 88 crossing near Ione:
https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Ione,+CA ... 29,,0,5.96
https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Ione,+CA ... 46,,0,6.96
Click around a little bit on the arrows and you get an updated view from May 2012, showing that the cantilevers were still there, but the track ends at the crossing, with no rails extending from the pavement east of there.

Re: Tracks out of service
Here are some abandoned tracks on Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL. Google dosen't have street view on Redstone Arsenal so this was the best I could do:
https://maps.google.com/maps?ll=34.6295 ... 8&t=h&z=19
These tracks were used for the rocket engine test towers out at NASA.
Here are some tracks that I believe are abandoned at Kennedy Space Center:
NASA Parkway E:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 65,,0,2.75
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 08,,0,3.51
Saturn Causway:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... ,8.77&z=18
Looks like one of the lights is missing something!
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... ,4.06&z=18
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... ,7.11&z=18
Vab Rd.:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 0,3.1&z=19
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... ,5.91&z=19
Launcher Rd. :
Crossing #1:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... ,7.95&z=19
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... ,9.71&z=19
Crossing #2:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... ,1.05&z=19
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... 13.74&z=19
Look at what's near the crossing!
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... ,13.1&z=19
And at the crossing behind that:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... ,-2.4&z=19
Road that leads to seating for watching rockets launch:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... ,,0,0&z=20
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=2 ... -0.41&z=20

There likely hasn't been a train in awhile with the end of the Shuttle program, but the track certainly looks well maintained!
I see the rest of that one lighthead appears to have rolled under the equipment cabinet!

A track use to cross here... and there seems to be a gate left. Wish there was a street view to show what exactly this signal is/was.freebrickproductions wrote:Here are some abandoned tracks on Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL. Re: Tracks out of service
Did anybody notice on the StreetView pictures from Nasa in Florida that the little Streetview guy was wearing a space suit? Just thought that was kind of funny...
Re: Tracks out of service
Um, yeah. I can see that.freebrickproductions wrote:Appears to be just a gate on a mast.SirKrunch wrote:A track use to cross here... and there seems to be a gate left. I'm just curious if it was set up that way, or if it was a full signal that was scalped... If there was another on the other side of the crossing before the rails were ripped. Etc... etc... etc.

Re: Tracks out of service
I'll see if I can go out there because my dad works at NASA, but apparently they don't let anyone out to those test stands anymore.SirKrunch wrote:Um, yeah.
