Amtrak Service Back In Town?

Can't have signals without railroads, so talk about your favorite locomotives, railroads and any other (non signal) railroad related stuff.

Amtrak Service Back In Town?

Aside from the famous defunct D&H Train Station, there also used to be another station down the road (here) where people could catch an Amtrak train (the building you see is the city Elks Club). Unfortunately, I'm too young remember either stations being in use, but I think it would be so great to revitalize our city's railroad infrastructure to include passenger service! The three nearest stations are in Schenectady, Rensselaer, and Saratoga, and it's at least a 30 min drive to each of them. Here is where they think it would be most beneficial to put the new station. Now, according to FRA records, there USED to be crossings at Williams St & Saratoga Ave (which have since been removed in favor of the bridge just to the north). Could it be possible that with this new station, a crossing or two could make a return in one form or another? Time will tell!
