I've posted these before, but here's a few broken gates:

Looks like someone hit one of the lights on this signal too:

They/Them for me, please.

Don't think its photo shopped, but how do you know he hit the gate?

Truck was going westbound rear of his trailer is far clear of the crossing gate in his lane and the gate you see there is the gate for eastbound traffic.
Both gates on street view have GS single direction gate keepers FYI.
Also takes trucks awhile to clear the crossing, its possible the driver entered the track before the lights even came on.

You have a point. Looks like he was either going slow and entered the crossing before the lights started flashing, or was going fast when the crossing activated in front of him and he didn't want to attempt a sudden stop.

Yeah... I have to agree. While it looks like the gate is touching the cab... I don't think it is. More than likely the gate did hit the trailer at some point, and just scrapped the top as he was hastily trying to get out of there.

Oh no not usually the case with intermodal container trucks, there's a a bit of a lip on the back of the trucks so they can stack them on top of each other hard to explain look here http://goo.gl/maps/NaJpp This shit causes like 75% of railroad crossing gate damage.
and if you put up GS spring gate keepers on large gates fiberglass sometimes can't take the force or the gate is too heavy to spring back. http://goo.gl/maps/yzZXH

We all remember this crossing.

Okay, we've had people that the gate would come on top of their vehicle, they run into the gate and break it, and maybe a few other things. This however, I did not even think was remotely possible. This person has to be a complete moron to do this to their car.

 As much as I laugh at that, I almost did that once.
Still very stupid.

I'm sure that was a fun call to his insurance company: "Well I was running late for work and got caught by a train..."
