So I saw this picture on Railpictures.net and got a little curious. Found a large number of crossings on this trolley line that use traffic signal type crossings (at least as of the last Streetview update). Once you get a little further out of town, there are cantilevered crossings with gates.

Some of the traffic signals appear to be quite old, and some don't even have green lights, just yellow and (I'm assuming) red as in this one: http://goo.gl/maps/1OA7k. I also like the fact that there are signals for the trains too.

They're discussing this over on the signal traffic forums. The lights in the picture are Eagle traffic lights that may still exist.
EDIT: The signals on the line have all since been replaced with Durasigs.

From a safety and MUTCD standpoint... I'm curious how they got away without crossbucks at so many of those crossings that long.
