American style crossbuck in Canada

Post by ToledoRailfan »

Am sure most of you know what crossbucks look like in Canada. However there is this one that looks like the ones in the U.S except it says railway crossing instead of railroad crossing. I think this is what crossbucks used to look like in Canada. http://www.flickr.com/photos/7119320@N05/3699610581/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/7119320@N0 ... otostream/

Nice find! That is a beautiful signal with the cat's eye signs on it. I have never liked the newer white crossbucks with the red outline they switched to, but I understand they're much better in a multi-lingual country like Canada is. (Pardon me while I shake my fist at the French Canadiens) Heh.
I wonder if we'll ever adopt those style crossbucks here in the US also... so we don't have to worry about them getting installed incorrectly by some maintainers. (CROSSING RAIL ROAD)
Well, :Censored:

Some very old Canadian crossbucks said both Railway Crossing in English and French. Like this one: http://trainweb.org/trainpixsnet/travel ... a/0019.jpg

Here is one at the Roundhouse Park in Toronto: http://www.trha.ca/uploaded_images/0912 ... 787194.jpg
And here is another one of those strange ones with the crossbuck in both French and English: http://yourrailwaypictures.com/Artifact ... ssbuck.jpg

I wonder if the crossbucks that say Railway Crossing in both English and French were only used in Quebec, sense it is the only Canadian province with French as its official language.
