Worth Seeing?

Post by signal-in-the-box »

Norfolk is on my list of places in Virginia to visit to document old traffic lights.

While searching for traffic lights on street view, a found this long stretch of abandoned railroad that was turned into a streetcar track inside the city. On the part that remains abandoned, there are many abandoned crossing signals. I was wondering if any of the ones below are worth seeing?

#1: I don't know the brand of these, but I remember hearing they are rare...

#2: The cantilever looks old

#3: I think this one will definitely go on the list...

The first cantilever has 12 inch Raco plastic lights. Those are pretty few and far between.

You mean GRS plastic lights.

Those cantilevers are Griswold cantilevers with the original Griswold Type B lights on the overhead part and a Griswold mechanical bell. All of those parts a very rare so I'd definitely go see that.
They/Them for me, please.

The third one aint worth the time.It has the same everyday equipment you see commonly. The only thing that cought my attention was the location of the signals.

Actually, it might not be a bad idea to get those, maybe even for the site.. after all, that pair of cantilever's time is limited, so it might be worth going out to see before they get taken down.

Any idea if they ever plan on converting any more of that abandoned trackage into commuter rail in the future, or is that slated to be another :Censored: bicycle trail?
Well, :Censored:
