Pratt Avenue, Huntsville, AL
I decided to re-video this crossing with my Sony camera.
Signal on the left: 4 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights and a Safetran mechanical bell
Signal on the right: 5 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights and a RACO mechanical bell.
The RACO mechanical bell is getting very weak. It probably needs to be adjusted.
They/Them for me, please.

Yea. There are some smart and patient drivers out there, just very few and far between. I think it also helped that I had my camera out and recording.ZachL wrote:Kudos to that white car for actually stopping instead of continuing straight on through

Nice video!
That's an NS line? If so, surprised they haven't put gates on that crossing with the volume of road traffic and the speed of the trains.

Yep, it's NS alright. I guess they don't see the need to put gates here, because it would lay more responsibility on the railroad if something happens at the crossing. Although I wouldn't mind gates here because Pratt Avenue is a very busy road, while the two crossings around it, Meridian Street and Cleveland Avenue, which both get less traffic than Pratt Avenue, have gates. Pratt Avenue is one of the two gateless crossings on the NS main line here in Huntsville.cabman701 wrote:Nice video!
