idiots, you dont go across untill ALL of the signal is off, expecally at a crossing with 2 tracks.

did anybody notice that at the beginning of the story, they showed a picture of an NS train, but they said Union Pacific?

I totally agree on crossings with gates that the bells should only ring on the initial activation, and while the gates are lowering.

I remember a few years ago the NS line had their track crew doing maintenance. All of their equipment moving up and down the tracks caused the crossing signals to "go crazy" with many activations & deactivations. Quite a few times a saw the gates partially rise, only to hear the bells start ringing again and the gates reverse and go back down again. Hearing the bells ring was a clue that you need to get out of the way because the gates are coming down again.

If the crossing involved in this accident was set up this way, this accident just might have been avoided.
