Re: Bell only crossings
Here's one on GA-114 in Lyerly, Georgia. The tracks were out of service when streetview was taken, but satellite shows that there are now cars being stored along the line south of the crossing (the line ends further to the south). However, this crossing is still like this.

These signals must use to have lights: https://www.google.com/maps/@43.290242, ... !2e0?hl=en https://www.google.com/maps/@43.289785, ... !2e0?hl=en I can't imagine the bell still works. Farther North on the line I found another bell only crossing, this time there are no signals that use to have lights: Bell only crossing: https://www.google.com/maps/@43.411956, ... !2e0?hl=en

On your last post... you need to correct the links. Here are the correct ones:ToledoRailfan wrote:These signals must use to have lights: https://www.google.com/maps/@43.290242, ... !2e0?hl=en https://www.google.com/maps/@43.289785, ... !2e0?hl=en I can't imagine the bell still works. Looks like my first post will be from my adopted home town. I didn't notice this one in the thread, located in South Bend, Indiana (South Shore commuter tracks, a.k.a. NICTD).

Looks like the bell at that crossing is from WRRS (how fitting, considering your username).

Re: Bell only crossings
Here's one up in NJ, on a new light-rail line that's supposedly being worked on:

Re: Bell only crossings
Feeling a little homesick today... was doing some browsing around places I had been in Illinois and came across this one in a town called Lewistown, IL, not too far from where my grandmother used to live.
This line was nearly dead for many years, but for the last 5 years or so has been used regularly to service a power plant about 20 miles to the northeast.

Nice find! I have to wonder what brand of bell that is there.
