No Left Turn and pedestrian gates in Chicago

Post by WRRS-Chicago »

This isn't quite street running but the commuter train traffic on this 2-track Metra line in Chicago certainly affects vehicular traffic on E 71st Street. Some interesting signal modifications, including trimming the light assembly hoods. Due primarily to the "No Left Turn" signals, I've been meaning to shoot in this area for a while but thought only to bring a semi-decent consumer camera and sub-standard tripod. Oh well, I made the best of it in the 90-degree sun. I've added annotations to provide more info.

Nice! That's not too far from the Museum of Science & Industry, is it? I used to drive school buses when I lived in Illinois and did field trips there. Ended up at a grocery store in that area looking for a parking lot large enough to park my bus in and get a few things for the long wait I had.

Right down the street (Stony Island) from the museum.

Thanks... thought it looked familiar. If memory serves, it might not be the best area to do a lot of filming unfortunately.
