Gary, Indiana. I'd go film them but it looks to me like trains don't come through there too often. A lot of this line is going to be re-located to make room for Gary Airport expansions. Also, you can see a rather unique design for the masts.

I'm also providing a link for the satellite view as much of this spur's length going east and west includes other teardrop bells on old signals (which pretty much all still have 8" lights). You can then select various street views of these crossings to check out the signals/teardrop bells.

Those U shaped masts were pretty common back in the day... I believe they were specifically made for wishbone or "A" framed gates to keep the lights away from the moving gate. However, that one on the opposite side definitely has been modified... a redneck quick fix of some sort.WRRS-Chicago wrote:Gary, Indiana. Here are some more Italian crossings with Teardrops:
One of the ones in this video sounds like it's about to die:

Very nice. Drivers over there seem to have some incredible patience. Huge delay between activation and the train on some of those... and sometimes quite a delay in deactivation as well.freebrickproductions wrote:Here are some more Italian crossings with Teardrops:

Re: Locations Of Currently Existing US&S TEARDROPS
Not sure if this was posted before, but these crossing in New Jersey each have a pair of US&S Teardrops at them:
https://www.google.com/maps/@40.7947642 ... 312!8i6656
https://www.google.com/maps/@40.7961516 ... 312!8i6656
https://www.google.com/maps/@40.7971545 ... 312!8i6656
https://www.google.com/maps/@40.8045713 ... 312!8i6656
The line appears to be a little-used freight spur. If you head west from the first crossing, the line has one more active crossing (with modern equipment) and then it becomes abandoned. It appears to have been a main line once upon a time though.
