A junction box maybe?

Just looking at this crossing makes me thirsty. There appears to be a junction box on the mast just below the lights on one mast, and maybe a reflector on the other..?

I don't recall seeing masts sprouting out of the ground without even a slight hint of a concrete base or signal base. I know junction boxes at the base are hit-and-miss, but I've never seen this sort of thing.

If you take a closer look at the poles... they don't look traditional. I think those are homemade signals of sorts. Almost looks like a tall fence post probably on a concrete base buried in the ground. The wiring to the lights... instead of going through the pole it comes up from the ground and up to the "junction box".

I also don't see a traditional control box anywhere. I have to wonder if these are just hand activated? Might explain the guy in the orange vest in the 2008 active shot. And due to the no traditional control box I bet each signal flashes independently.

Looks like a junction box. I've never seen a signal mast like this. Must be a west coast thing? Can't seem to find the equipment shelter either.

On my computer, it only gives you that option if you are using Chrome. It does not work for IE. Not sure if it works with any other browsers.

Also check to see if you're in lite mode on any of the browsers. I can access older and newer streetview imagery from both IE and Chrome in the full version, but in lite mode, I can't on either.
