Multiple Carrollton, TX Crossings Being Eliminated

Post by Brian556 »

In Carrollton, Texas, multiple crossings are being eliminated by the I-35Express Project.

The affected crossings include all four on the I-35E frontage roads at Belt Line Rd, as well as the BNSF Madill Sub crossing on Belt Line Rd just east of I-35E.

This will be accomplished by raising the freeway lanes up another level, and raising the frontage roads and Belt Line Rd up one level. The railroads will remain at ground level.

In the picture, it looks like while the northbound frontage road crossing of the DGNO/FWWR line will be affected, a crossing might be retained under the elevated frontage road bridge.

Since Broadway is so close to the BNSF Madill Sub, it is hard to fathom how Belt Line Rd will be able to climb to a sufficient elevation to get over it in such a short distance.
