Re: Market Street, Athens, AL
The gates are now installed. All of the gate lights are RECO LEDs. There is also only just the one ped gate.

Looks good... although the ped gate should at least have 1 light on it.
It looks as though in your previous video (without the gates) that the new signals may have been hooked up to the old relay box temporarily. They now have a faster flash rate than they did before the gates were installed.

There should also probably be a second ped gate as well.cabman701 wrote:Looks good... although the ped gate should at least have 1 light on it.

The new signals were temporarily hooked up to the old relay case, since the gate mechs weren't in use at the time.

Re: Market Street, Athens, AL
*originally recorded on 9-2-21*
Signal on the left: 4 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs, an NEG electronic bell, a Siemens gate mechanism, RECO LED gate lights, and an NEG LED gate light.

Pedestrian signal: a Siemens gate mechanism.
After catching M781, I went down to Athens in case they worked the branch, but unfortunately the daytime crew for the train just did some work on the storage track there and tied down. As such, I went down to downtown Athens, as I knew a couple of northbounds were coming, and decided to set-up at this crossing first. Here we see the first of the two northbounds: CSX Q524 with an ES44AH leading an ES40DC.
Nothing too major has changed at this crossing since I last recorded it. However, the far cantilever had the tip gate light on its gate arm replaced and now it's an NEG LED gate light. Other than that though, this crossing basically remains entirely unchanged from when it was installed.

Re: Market Street, Athens, AL
Still no major changes to this crossing as of 6-7-22, though I did also film this crossing from the other side as well.
One of the gate lights here was out at the time though, so I wouldn't be surprised if there's another NEG LED gate light here now as well.

On March 7th, YourPalTina_ and I went out to hang-out for a bit before I needed to take her up to Chattanooga so she could catch a bus back up to New England. We went out to downtown Athens to see what CSX was running. Unfortunately, we happened to get there right in the middle of a deadzone, and CSX C015 had just passed going south. Once we got here, however, I saw a heads-up on Facebook that M521 had left Nashville this morning with a rather excellent lash-up on the head-end of it. As such, we spent the next 2+ hours waiting, towards the end of which RailFanTay_Productions also joined up with us. Thankfully, our patience would be rewarded, as CSX M521 finally came through with CSX 3194 (an ES44AH) leading another CSX ES44AH, a CSX GP38-3, a CSX SD40-2, a CEFX SD40-2 (missing a numberboard above the cab), a CITX SD40-2, and a pair of GECX (ex-CSX) Dash-8s on the head-end (heading to the AGR), with a CSX ET44AH working as the mid-train DPU. The RS5T on CSX 3194 also sounded great as it was blown for all nine crossings through downtown Athens, and I'm quite glad I was able to get it at this crossing.
Nothing too much has changed to this crossing since I last recorded it. However, CSX has replaced a dead RECO LED gate light on the closer signal with a new NEG LED gate light since then, which seems to be the only major change between this video and the last. The closer signal's gate mech seems like it might need some work though, given how quickly it descended and bounced upon lowering.
