More strange crossings in Mexico.

Post by ToledoRailfan »

I decided to find some more crossings on Google Streetview in Mexico.
------
These are strange cantilever signals with strange lights. No crossbucks.
https://www.google.com/maps/@29.0299884 ... 6656?hl=en
--------------
Another one. https://www.google.com/maps/@29.0299661 ... 6656?hl=en
--------------
The lights are Blearily pointing toward the road! And the crossbucks are pointed toward the crossing instead of away from the crossing.

https://www.google.com/maps/@29.0305736 ... 6656?hl=en
https://www.google.com/maps/@29.0305853 ... 6656?hl=en

But the crossing has a pair of US&S E-Bells. Looks like they planned on adding gates here too. https://www.google.com/maps/@29.0305825 ... 6656?hl=en
--------------
Looks like there used to me more tracks here but were too lazy too move the crossbuck. https://www.google.com/maps/@29.0264607 ... 6656?hl=en
--------------
How did that get there? https://www.google.com/maps/@29.0864189 ... 6656?hl=en
--------------
These people would be caught if this was in the United States. https://www.google.com/maps/@29.1027284 ... 6656?hl=en
--------------
Why is there a crossbuck here? https://www.google.com/maps/@29.136681, ... 6656?hl=en
--------------

Actually it had gates in the past... https://www.google.com/maps/@29.0305738 ... 6656?hl=en.

If I had to venture a guess, the gates probably kept getting broke, so instead of having to fix them all the time they just removed them. Or, it is also quite possible with that crossing out in the middle of nowhere like that, the gate motors were stolen.

There was another signal there, but it got knocked down:
https://www.google.com/maps/@20.6228544 ... 6656?hl=en
Also, back in 2009, the crossing just had a pair of crossbucks:
https://www.google.com/maps/@20.6228544 ... 6656?hl=en
It also looks like there were gates there at one time.

I'm pretty sure that signal didn't work:
https://www.google.com/maps/@20.7282541 ... 6656?hl=en
Also, the signal has since been replaced:
https://www.google.com/maps/@20.7279282 ... 6656?hl=en
And the bell on the gated signal had been hit by June of 2013:
https://www.google.com/maps/@20.7279101 ... 6656?hl=en
And then the gate was removed by August of 2014, though the gate mech still remained:
https://www.google.com/maps/@20.7279371 ... 6656?hl=en
A little bit more from the gate mech was gone a few months later:
https://www.google.com/maps/@20.7279257 ... 6656?hl=en
And here are the new signals in the process of being installed:
https://www.google.com/maps/@20.7279403 ... 6656?hl=en
They/Them for me, please.

Looks like that signal used to have lights. I'm surprised I did not notice that. https://www.google.com/maps/@20.7282541 ... 6656?hl=en

I remember a while back, I was searching a line somewhere in Mexico when I came across a gated crossing without lights. The crossing was very old. I think it was near Mexico City, I've tried a couple times to find it again but I failed each time.

This crossing is only guarded by a yellow diamond warning sign and a stop sign, the signs are in good condition though, credit where credit is due. https://www.google.com/maps/@19.9863099 ... 6656?hl=en https://www.google.com/maps/@19.9861926 ... 6656?hl=en

What is going on here? It looks like this guy is directing traffic and acting as a flagman (without a flag) at this crossing. https://www.google.com/maps/@20.5745597 ... 6656?hl=en https://www.google.com/maps/@20.5745798 ... 6656?hl=en

This does not look like a good setup. https://www.google.com/maps/@20.6809422 ... 6656?hl=en https://www.google.com/maps/@20.6809422 ... 6656?hl=en https://www.google.com/maps/@20.680862, ... 6656?hl=en

Found this crossing just across the US border... it appears to be malfunctioning. The one light is on constantly as you "drive" through.
