The line appears to be a little-used freight spur. If you head west from the first crossing, the line has one more active crossing (with modern equipment) and then it becomes abandoned. It appears to have been a main line once upon a time though.

That approach from the other side looks scary (with that curve)... but it appears they have some sort of advanced warning signal. Wonder how it works in conjunction with the signals?
