Odd...

Post by freebrickproductions »

Found this on YouTube today, and it shows something rather odd at this crossing:

I have no idea why the bell on the signal closest to the camera shuts off when the gate starts to lower. I can personally say though, that I ain't never seen that before...
They/Them for me, please.

That certainly is unique, hardly worth having the bell in the first place. I'm wondering if the bell circuit was incorrectly wired inside the gate mech, because you can hear the other bell ringing for much longer.

Some people on Facebook think the camshaft might've gotten out of alignment, or something along the lines of that.

Yeah something's not right that's for sure. It's good that someone managed to get it on video.

It reminds me of a fault I saw in another video, if you go to the 6:30 mark in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2Qa0gTaGHE when the crossing starts up. Both lights on the gated signal to the left seem to stay on together until the gate starts to lower, then they flash normally. When the gate has risen again (about the 7:50 mark) you can see the problem happen again just before the lights shut off. I'm guessing that is also another example of a fault inside a gate mech.
