Menangle Pedestrian Crossing, Australia.

Post by McK&H.Aust »

This is another pedestrian crossing with GRS semaphore mechanisms. It is located 65km southwest of Sydney on the main line that runs between Sydney and Melbourne. The crossing provides pedestrian access to one of the platforms at Menangle station, which is in a quiet rural location and normally sees just a small number of passengers every day. It seems like overkill to have gates but many trains pass through here doing speeds of up to 100 km/h.

This crossing was actually quite a challenge to film, there were many obstructions such as fences, cable ducts, signs, power poles and trees. I got lucky with the two freight trains passing through together, and I had the camera sitting on top of a cable duct which was not ideal but the best angle I could find to fit the whole crossing into the shot.
