That line is sadly out of service, and appears to have been for several years. It used to be a Canadian National line, but it was later taken over by a shortline who's since either gone out of business, or cut back the used portion of their line by a lot. Lots of older CN set-ups on that line as well.TrickyMario7654 wrote:Looks like they're installing gates at this crossing...

Well that's no surprise. But take a look at the crossing in 2008! The gate mechs weren't even there, infact, the signals look different!freebrickproductions wrote:That line is sadly out of service, and appears to have been for several years. Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
Yea, the crossing had some old gateless (Federal Signal?) cantilevers back then.TrickyMario7654 wrote:Well that's no surprise. But take a look at the crossing in 2008! Found a couple of active crossings in Greenwood Mississippi from back in 2008:

That 2nd crossing still has 8 inch lights as of May 2016: https://www.google.com/maps/@33.5133528 ... 312!8i6656

Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
Any idea what model of gate motor this ped gate is? Think it's interesting that they mounted it "backwards" so the gate would go down in the correct direction. https://www.google.com/maps/@41.3855524 ... 312!8i6656
An old semaphore gate motor turned into ped gate: https://www.google.com/maps/@41.3652401 ... 312!8i6656
Another one here... but this one seems mounted a bit lower than it should be. Looks like you could practically step over the lowered gate: https://www.google.com/maps/@41.3644397 ... 312!8i6656

Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
Came across this interesting signal going to a hockey game last weekend in Tampa. It's for streetcar service. Appears to be 3M light heads and they appear to be yellow in this active shot I found on Streetview: https://www.google.com/maps/@27.9414715 ... 6656?hl=en
Here's the signal from the side: https://www.google.com/maps/@27.9413514 ... 6656?hl=en
The major intersections along this line are controlled by the traffic lights (with a preemption for the trolley's). However, there are also some "odd" signals here and there as well:

US&S Model 95 gate mech. Pretty common on the BNSF.cabman701 wrote:Any idea what model of gate motor this ped gate is? Think it's interesting that they mounted it "backwards" so the gate would go down in the correct direction. https://www.google.com/maps/@41.3855524 ... 312!8i6656
The semaphore gate mechs were actual products offered by WRRS and GRS, believe it or not.cabman701 wrote: An old semaphore gate motor turned into ped gate: https://www.google.com/maps/@41.3652401 ... 312!8i6656

Ahhh... so they were built for that purpose? I thought they were retired semaphores that got turned into gates.freebrickproductions wrote:The semaphore gate mechs were actual products offered by WRRS and GRS, believe it or not.
Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
I've been past that signal on Franklin Street (third/fourth links), but never the 3M beacons on Old Water Street.cabman701 wrote:Came across this interesting signal going to a hockey game last weekend in Tampa.
