Yep. They were also built for roadway signals as well. Not too many exist anymore though, mostly only the ones installed as pedestrian signals.cabman701 wrote:Ahhh... so they were built for that purpose? I thought they were retired semaphores that got turned into gates.freebrickproductions wrote:The semaphore gate mechs were actual products offered by WRRS and GRS, believe it or not.

I don't think the 15 yellow concrete posts are enough. That should add at least 10 more.freebrickproductions wrote:This crossing got downgraded from a road to a pedestrian crossing, but the old L&N signals were left in use!

Also... did you realize you posted these links under the Australian thread?

EDIT: Here's the stuff that I accidentally posted in the other thread:
Also, here's an odd looking bell, looks a bit like a modified General Signals e-bell:
https://www.google.com/maps/@36.910231, ... 1664?hl=en
Classic L&N-era signals:
https://www.google.com/maps/@36.8762498 ... 6656?hl=en
What an interesting mount for this WRRS bell:
https://www.google.com/maps/@36.8491515 ... 6656?hl=en
More classic L&N signals:
https://www.google.com/maps/@36.8462342 ... 6656?hl=en
Another set of classics, this time on a CSX mainline:
https://www.google.com/maps/@36.9903321 ... 6656?hl=en
Another pair at the next crossing up:
https://www.google.com/maps/@36.9910705 ... 6656?hl=en
More here:
https://www.google.com/maps/@36.9925515 ... 6656?hl=en
Three lights in two directions on both sides of this signal:

https://www.google.com/maps/@36.9944438 ... 6656?hl=en
Would be neat to see in action.
This crossing used to be on a two-way road:
https://www.google.com/maps/@36.9959965 ... 6656?hl=en
Also, the bell went from being atop of the signal with a gate to the relay case, for reasons unknown:
https://www.google.com/maps/@36.9960086 ... 1664?hl=en
https://www.google.com/maps/@36.9960702 ... 6656?hl=en
Active crossing:
https://www.google.com/maps/@37.023227, ... 6656?hl=en
Of course, the Google Car goes right on through:
https://www.google.com/maps/@37.0229423 ... 6656?hl=en
And the train wasn't stopped either, appears to be a local freight with a YN2 C40-8W pulling it!
https://www.google.com/maps/@37.0229576 ... 6656?hl=en
https://www.google.com/maps/@37.0231419 ... 6656?hl=en
Another pair of classics:

More:

This one even has a pair of split crossbucks!

https://www.google.com/maps/@37.0690462 ... 1664?hl=en
This crossing got downgraded from a road to a pedestrian crossing, but the old L&N signals were left in use!
https://www.google.com/maps/@37.0923012 ... 6656?hl=en
https://www.google.com/maps/@37.0926551 ... 6656?hl=en
Back in 2008, when it was still a road crossing:
https://www.google.com/maps/@37.0926479 ... 1664?hl=en
Another pair of classics, with what's almost undoubtedly a GS Type-1 e-bell:
https://www.google.com/maps/@37.0039927 ... 6656?hl=en
Yet another pair:
https://www.google.com/maps/@37.1818831 ... 6656?hl=en
Another active crossing:
https://www.google.com/maps/@37.2391623 ... 6656?hl=en

More classics:

Another nice pair:
https://www.google.com/maps/@37.4615592 ... 6656?hl=en
A classic signal here, looks like the other used to be 8 inch as well:
https://www.google.com/maps/@37.5609238 ... 1664?hl=en
A pair of classic cantilevers:
https://www.google.com/maps/@37.6902263 ... 6656?hl=en
They/Them for me, please.

Active crossing at Belchertown, Massachusetts.

I like the crossing, it has a mechanical bell and an extra pair of lights mounted on one side. Looks nice with the leaves changing.

Nice old crossing in Hoosick Falls, NY. Interesting bell mount and tall masts for the pedestrian gates.

Sadly it looks as though the crossing is about to be upgraded, there is a new relay bungalow and a maintainer's vehicle.

Markings on the pavement, probably for the new cable route and signal foundations

Metro, why do you keep removing Mechanical bells?!

Looks like they've just fallen off due to age and lots of sun fading.TrickyMario7654 wrote:This Australian crossbuck is missing several letters...
