Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
Some very classic signals (with a pair of GRS Lex-C 8 inch lights) mounted on the wrong sides of the road:

Look's like the crossbuck fell off the mast at this crossing...

Metro, why do you keep removing Mechanical bells?!

Could those be LED's of some sort?

Active crossing in Vancouver, WA: https://www.google.com/maps/@45.6295944 ... 6656?hl=en
Back in 2007, this crossing had crossbucks only: https://www.google.com/maps/@45.6296848 ... 1664?hl=en
Also, just a few blocks over back in 2007 was this set of crossings... https://www.google.com/maps/@45.6273035 ... 1664?hl=en. The one on the right had some very old signals with STOP signs that would light up. Those oldies got replaced with gated signals soon after that. Then, around 2013, both that crossing and the crossing on the left were completely torn out.
2012: https://www.google.com/maps/@45.6272982 ... 6656?hl=en

Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
Don't think so. The only 8 inch LEDs that I know stick out of the signals they're placed in are the 8 inch Safetran Fading LEDs and 8 inch Harmon Fading LEDs, both of which would be much more red in color.cabman701 wrote:freebrickproductions wrote:Some very classic signals (with a pair of GRS Lex-C 8 inch lights) mounted on the wrong sides of the road:

Also, a guy on another forum I'm apart of (Highway Divides, and I believe said user has an account here) actually got a lens made by US&S that appears to be designed to stick out of the crossing lights by a wide margin, though the one snag on that is that the lens is also a 9 inch lens and the lights at the crossing are from GRS.
Here's a couple pictures of the lens taken by said user:

Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
Take a closer look at both though, as they each have lantern gate lights in use!ToledoRailfan wrote:Active crossing in Chicago. https://www.google.com/maps/@41.8538568 ... 6656?hl=en
Active crossing in Cicero, Illinois.
https://www.google.com/maps/@41.8521009 ... 6656?hl=en
The first crossing, which has almost all lantern gate lights:
https://www.google.com/maps/@41.8536769 ... 6656?hl=en
https://www.google.com/maps/@41.8537936 ... 6656?hl=en

https://www.google.com/maps/@41.8537936 ... 6656?hl=en
https://www.google.com/maps/@41.8537936 ... 6656?hl=en
There's also what appears to be a small L&W or US&S 8 inch signal here as well:
https://www.google.com/maps/@41.8537936 ... 6656?hl=en
The second crossing only has three:
https://www.google.com/maps/@41.8520387 ... 6656?hl=en
https://www.google.com/maps/@41.8520387 ... 6656?hl=en
It appears that there are more in use on other crossings along that line:
https://www.google.com/maps/@41.8521795 ... 6656?hl=en
https://www.google.com/maps/@41.851762, ... 6656?hl=en

https://www.google.com/maps/@41.8517208 ... 6656?hl=en
This is also a bit odd, though it appears to be for a railroad-owned building:

https://www.google.com/maps/@41.851837, ... 6656?hl=en

Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
Looks like the numbers are meant for mile posts and the "tracks" is just a standard tracks sign.ToledoRailfan wrote: Odd "2 tracks" signs.
