Apparently, this line is now back in service. But considering the fact that the re-installation of lights to the left of the crossing would have been necessary, I (unfortunately) think it's safe to assume that the whole crossing got a "touch-up" and the WABCO bell is now history.

I never noticed that! But yeah, there's probably a good chance they trashed the crossing.
Hopefully they didn't remove the Teardrop bells on the rest of the line.

Just found out that the Windsor crossing has GS Type 3 E-Bells! Here's a video of the crossing in action...

Finally some variety in Melbournes bells! This may be the only crossing in the country that has them (but I'm sure that there would be more around in Melbourne). I quite like these bells. Although I still love the type 2s. But nothing competes with WCH E-bells.

Something odd in Wendouree, Victoria, this crossing originally had a Westinghouse Hybrid Bell and WCH M-Bell:

By 2014 the WCH bell had been replaced by a Safetran Type 3 and the gates were updated. But for some unknown reason, the Westinghouse Hybrid survived! :

I wonder what happened? All of the other crossings in the area had their bells replaced by E-Bells (most around 2009) so why was this one left untouched?

Possibly, but usually when one M-Bell dies, the other is replaced at the same time. E-Bells are also often added when the new "flat gates" are installed at the crossing. I've never seen an M-Bell left at an "upgraded" crossing in Victoria before.

Possibly, but usually when one M-Bell dies, the other is replaced at the same time. E-Bells are also often added when the new "flat gates" are installed at the crossing. I've never seen an M-Bell left at an "upgraded" crossing in Victoria before.

If you take a look at the 2009 GSV image of the Gap Road level crossing in Sunbury, you'll see that the road had recently been widened and a new crossing had been installed. Interestingly enough, it's got inverted 'SORS' signs, flat gates, and two hybrid bells! Wonder why they used Hybrid bells instead of E-Bells?

Interestingly, they kept the inverted 'SORS' signs at the crossing! With the exception of this crossing and the one on the Melton Highway, all the crossings on this section of the line had them replaced with the white background ones. Here's one crossing that was modified...

BTW, I find it funny that the Gap Road level crossing looks almost like the Clyde Road crossing in Berwick! They pretty much have the same equipment. The only noticeable difference is that Clyde Road has white 'SORS' signs...
