You think your car gets bad mileage? SP 4449 consumes 10 gallons of bunker oil and 100 gallons of water every mile.

Re: Rescuing Old Signals
How does someone like that go about taking down those signals legally?
I know you just can't go up and do it whenever you want. Someone tried that in Wisconsin with a Griswold stop sign signal, and was arrested for stealing it (on an abandoned line).

tatas cool that they are doing, those old things wont be around forever, the tags with names are the coolest, it adds a bit of human element to railroading

Wonder how old the Cantilevers were though, or how long the rails had been removed when those pictures were taken... The Google satellite view (there's not street view available of that crossing) still shows the tracks in place, at least around there. If you follow the line it had been removed in a lot of chunks when the image was taken, and the diamond with the other tracks nearby was gone.

The tags with names on sent a chill down my spine!
At least here, as far as I can tell, signals are re-used unless they are out of date.
