I don't quite see that illusion, but an illusion I do see from that angle is that the image makes the gate look like it is standing up at a 90° angle from the ground, when it's not.

Those SORS signs on that crossing look kind of odd. Kind of weird seeing SORS signs outside of Michigan too.

I think maybe he was meaning how high the gate mast is? It's actually taller than the cantilever, which for some reason seems to be a trend lately.

This crossing is probably on a Class 2 or 3 railroad if there are cab signals.

A lot of old installs across the country have them, and Michigan just happens to be the only state that mandates that sign to this day.

Some times old installs with SORS signs outside Michigan will have the old SORS sign replaced with a new one. Kind of odd.
