Talk about other non-signal stuff here. Make sure to obey the rules though.

Does seem a bit odd, especially since that is not a large city and you would think traffic is not crazy. But here in 2015 the traffic lights on the cantilever are red, and so are the lights on the intersection ahead.

Plus, in the 2016 shots if you "drive" down the road you can see the cantilever's traffic light change a little bit before the intersection's lights do.

In this shot below, the white SUV is clearly not across the tracks yet... and the traffic lights are red on the cantilever. If you keep going, he just keeps proceeding across the tracks. How often do you think that happens?

Very strange that the intersection is so far from the crossing yet it has preemption signals. Only in Michigan! :LOL3:

Edit: I can't image that the signals at the intersection go into flash mode when the crossing activates.

I wouldn't think so either... but hard to say for sure.

I also wonder what this sign is for when it's lit up? And is it for the crossing activation or something else?

It is a "no turn" sign. I've seen them at some intersections before but not on a small intersection with four-way clusters!
