You're not going to believe this but it appears that all of the problems are gone!
If anymore problems arise I'll try clearing cookies/cache.

Do you have any extensions enabled in your browser? Perhaps do a virus scan as well.

Now I can't view my notifications or messages on Facebook! And the smilies here on the forum don't work for me either. I'm so confused as to what is going on.

Disable all of your Chrome extensions and see if everything works as normal.
