Happened at about 7:19 tonight. The crash occurred between Gov't Center and Park Street. A train headed westbound rear-ended a stopped train. Here is a map of the whole line. IDK which branch the trains that collided were a part of. Shocking thing is, I've rode that line just a few weeks ago when I went to Boston. We went from Riverside to Gov't Center.

That accident has been broadcast on Fox 10 here in Arizona, so it seems to be getting nationwide attention.

Well, no one's dead - just a lot of injuries.

Wonder if you had the same conductor? And I wonder if he was texting while driving your train too?weatherdan882002 wrote:Shocking thing is, I've rode that line just a few weeks ago when I went to Boston. We went from Riverside to Gov't Center.
Don't get me wrong, I have a cell phone, and I do admit I may talk on it on occasion while driving my personal vehicle. But I would never be stupid enough to try and text while driving. That is just plain dumb!

Nah, reports said the conductor was 24-year-old, and ours was way older (at least in his 30s). What an idiot this guy was...

Re: MBTA Green Line Crash
I don't even text period at all... I agree about not texting while driving. That's just plain stupid.
I'm perfectly able to drive and talk on a cell phone no problem. I can drive one handed very well. The only problem I'd have is using turn signals.
If anybody can stand Billy Mays, why not try out one of those "Jupiter Jacks" that have recently come out?
Although I'm not sure if the Jupiter Jack is a really good idea IMO. It puts the cell phone on the radio, and if anyone is tuned to that station, they'll hear your conversation.

I saw that episode on the Discovery channel a few weeks back. They say the signal from that thing is only good for 20 feet or so, so the other car would have to be right next to you to be able to pick up the signal. Unless they happened to be scanning radio stations for some reason, they would have no clue you were talking on the phone.Smjh1979 wrote:I don't even text period at all...
