I know I've seen several other railroads use these kinds of Safetran backgrounds where the disk folds up slightly, but I never thought I'd spot them in Tampa, especially on CSX! :Blink:

I think it's because they're plastic. Aluminum backgrounds don't appear to be like that, I've noticed. I've seen them used on both CSX (and former CSX) and NS crossings down here.

Oh wow, I didn't realize that those were even made of plastic. I guess it makes sense though because on all the photos I've seen, the plastic material does retain its reflectivity.
