It's an indication for trains to come to a stop right there since that's a diamond. It's also probably decades old because from the looks of it, neither of those lines receive much use if any anymore.

Nice find! That is pretty odd, maybe at one point one of the lines was a streetcar line. Definitely very old and very classic!Joosh wrote:https://www.google.com/maps/@40.4927151 ... 312!8i6656

I this found this not to far from that signal.
-----------------
I also came across this odd cantilever signal near the signal.

Those odd signals seem to be a thing around here.

Re: What Is This?
I think these sections of track do get some use, but not much. They're owned by a couple small shortlines.

IIRC, those are smash-boards or tilt-boards or something like that. It was basically an old way of controlling diamonds once upon a time.ToledoRailfan wrote:I this found this not to far from that signal.ZachL wrote:neither of those lines receive much use if any anymore.

Then whomever manages that line really needs to fix their grade.ToledoRailfan wrote:I don't know about that.ZachL wrote:neither of those lines receive much use if any anymore.

As a motorist, I can vouch that it's not fun at all to drive over a rough crossing.ToledoRailfan wrote:That would be fun to drive over!ZachL wrote:Then whomever manages that line really needs to fix their grade.ToledoRailfan wrote:I don't know about that.ZachL wrote:neither of those lines receive much use if any anymore.
