Re: Favorite Mechanical Bell
My 2 favorite Mechanical Bells are The US&S Teardrop Bell and the WRRS Mini-Bell. Both of them are unique and have great sounds.

US&S teardrop. I love the sound. I also like Safetran sound, but the Teardrop is cooler.

Re: Favorite Mechanical Bell
I chose safetran because that was the once common bell in Independence, Missouri before UP and KCS started replacing them all. Fortunately, I own a safetran mechanical bell which can been seen on my channel if anyone wants to check it out.
Proud owner of 7 mechanical bells along with a pair of safetran 12x20 lights and a 8 inch light. Been a fan of trains since I was little. Main place I railfan on, The Sedalia Sub.

Re: Favorite Mechanical Bell
There were 15 safetran mechanical bells in Independence. 5 of them were in service on UP's Sedalia Subdivision, 4 on KCS's Mexico Subdivison, and 5 on UP's River sub. Overtime, those bells were replaced and now Independence has about 7 of them left in service. meanwhile, the wch mechanical bells are still working, though some are becoming weak over time. It's still sad to see the once common bell all die out.UnionPacific4Life wrote: Tue Sep 17, 2019 7:23 amYes, tragic.Nascar Fan007 wrote: Mon Sep 16, 2019 9:25 pm I chose safetran because that was the once common bell in Independence, Missouri before UP and KCS started replacing them all. Yes.
Webster Groves has ONE WCH mechanical left, all other bells are gone. Same with Kirkwood, but unfortunately the only Kirkwood M-Bell is on a dormant (basically defunct) line.
