- The gate is attatched to the cantilever. And although it isn't exactly something that's rare for the good, we do have signals that look like this:

http://www.rxrsignals.net/New_York/Mech ... dway/1.JPG
http://www.rxrsignals.net/New_York/Mech ... dway/6.JPG

- When the LEX-C lights break, instead of replacing the whole set, they just replace the single light that's affected, making the signals look a bit odd.

Forget about the lights, look at those counterweights! That right there is why you have bearing failures in mechanisms.

Elton i dont thing FailAmerica has "SMART" signal maintainers
look at how bad that set up is
they need to use some c4 and start over on that crossing
plus i bet that bell rings when the gates go up

I never walk on the tracks at all...unless..of course, I have permission to do so...or with a maintainer. Only cross at the crossing. The CN police around here will give you a ticket for walking down the tracks...and I've seen it about 3 times in the last month.

I would like to, but with no trains in Prescott since 1983, I can't really do anything to this topic.

Sorry, nothing much around here that fits the bill. Uncle Pete's done a fairly good job keeping things up to date on the Jewell Sub in my area. Closest thing would probably be the 20 year old cantilever on the West side of the Broad Street crossing here in Story City. *shrug* It's hardly anything to write about.
(It's the one in the background, if you couldn't figure it out...)

We have a couple of the Raco cantilevers with the gates mounted directly on them:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source= ... 7,,1,-0.28

The one on the other side was exactly like this one, but was knocked down about 2 years ago. The mast signal that is on StreetView was only temporary, I posted a picture of the replacement signal in the Crossing Signal News section. That new signal has it's gate mounted directly on the cantilever as well.

Here's another Raco cantilever:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source= ... ,,0,-10.44

==========================================================================

I also found this signal a bit odd when it was first installed because it was the first one I have seen with a "growth" sticking out of it:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source= ... 2,,0,-3.97

I have since seen others signals like that too on Mike's site I believe.

==========================================================================

These here are probably about the oldest signals in town that are still active. They just got a new lease on life too as they were just updgraded to all LED's within the last few months:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source= ... 72,,0,8.96

==========================================================================

And the oddest wayside signal has already been on this site as well. It is located on the I&M tracks on 19th Street. There are 2 other signals like this one as well:

Probably the Sellers Road wigwag in Banks. The road itself isn't on SV but Highway 47 runs right by it and it is.

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source= ... 31,,1,0.49

As for wayside signals...not much. Sorry. :OhWell:
You think your car gets bad mileage? SP 4449 consumes 10 gallons of bunker oil and 100 gallons of water every mile.

From what I've heard, the line has gone dormant due to damage caused by flooding a few years back. It's costing too much to fix it, and it just may stay dormant.

So in a word, yes it is unused.
