Re: May Photo of The Month
Here's my entry for May.
This photo was taken at the Wildwood Dr. TRE crossing in Irving, TX on April 4, 2009. When I was taking the photos, I could hear and feel the buzz from the gigantic Oncor-TXU high-voltage switching station next door! Also note the wayside horn and "X" quiet zone indicator mounted directly to the cantilever. More pictures from this crossing, including action shots, will be coming in one of my future submissions to Mike's website.

Is that the horn mounted on the cantilever... or is it part of the power pole behind it? If it is the wayside horn, that is the first one I have seen mounted like that.

its on the cantilever. I can see the mounting rings on the cantilever bar.

I see what you mean now. Those wires looping under the horn though made it look as though they were connected to it. Those wires are part of the power pole now I realize.
Here is my submission for this month. This is an old signal that is posted on Phil's website also. It is in Canton, IL on Ash st. As you can see, it still has it's old wooden "A" gate that has seen better days, and the old-fashion lantern style gate lights.
I took this picture on Easter Sunday. The last time I saw this signal in action was back in the 80's. I'm sure it wasn't too long after that that it saw it's last train. For whatever reason though, these signals all along this line still have power to them.
