Brownsboro Road, Brownsboro, AL
The train had stopped on the crossing so I stopped recording and shut off my camera. However, when I turned my camera back on and started recording again, it apparently didn't want to focus for a few seconds.
Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights and a GS Type 2 Electronic Bell.
Signal on the right: 3 pairs of Safetran 8 inch lights.
The 12x20 inch signal replaced an 8 inch signal that had a WCH mechanical bell.
They/Them for me, please.

Re: Brownsboro Road, Brownsboro, AL
Well, now there's a pair of brand-new signals in use here:
*originally recorded on 9-15-18*
Signal on the left: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights and a General Signals Type 3 electronic bell.
After catching 26Q in downtown Huntsville, I chased him over to to Brownsboro to record this recently upgraded crossing, just barely beating him to it. NS recently upgraded this crossing from the previous signals. Not entirely sure why, but likely they wanted to move the signal with the bell closer to the tracks at the same time they replaced the 8 inch lights on the other signal. A bit of a shame that the classic late-SOU signal on the far side is now gone though. On the bright side, the signals do still remain gateless, which is rather nice.

Re: Brownsboro Road, Brownsboro, AL
*originally recorded on 6-18-25*
Signal on the left: 3 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights with GE Uniform Look LEDs.
After I caught A81 in Ryland, I hopped on over to the Brock Road crossing to wait on them while they worked the spur just east of this crossing. However, when I heard them finishing-up after a while of waiting, but the signal at Brock hadn't lined for them, I decided instead to hop back over to this crossing and see what was up. There, I found that they had dropped off both the tank car and box car they'd taken east with them on the spur and were about to run lite back west to Decatur. As such, I quickly got set-up and was able to catch NS A81 departing from Brownsboro for Decatur with the two EMDs running lite, now with the SD40-2 in the lead.
I will admit, when I came to this crossing, I wasn't expecting to find it upgraded to LED. However, sometime within the past few months (IIRC), NS apparently upgraded this crossing to LED, though thankfully the gateless signals NS installed here back in 2018 are still around. Not sure why this crossing was chosen to be upgraded to LED, TBH. I believe this now leaves only the three gateless crossings in Scottsboro and Hollywood as the remaining incandescent gateless crossings on the NS Memphis District East End's mainline.
